What began as a raw basement ended up as a gracious, jewel-like setting for large-scale entertaining.
The lower level of a sprawling house had nothing more than wooden posts and linoleum floors. The clients wanted to create a "summer home" underneath the existing larger home to serve large social functions that would spill out to the terraced lawn and pool. New French doors (replacing sliders) create an easy flow from the tailored interior to the immaculately landscaped terrace and pool - perfect for large summer parties away from the main floor above - which the owners frequently enjoy.
In the kitchen, custom cabinetry in a dark stain contrasts nicely with the lighter tones of the limestone floor and faux marble columns. This kitchen is meant to be used by staff and is completely open to the adjacent space for easy serving.
A shimmering little powder room and full-sized bath were carved out of former storage closets. The polished Emperador marble vanity is a custom design as is the large single-basin vanity. Polished nickel faucets are by THG and undercounter basins are by Waterworks. The inlaid marble floor in the powder room gives the room an elegant flair. The Toto toilet is discreetly tucked away in an alcove to the right of the door.
