Lawrence Duggan founded LD Design in 2001 as a full-service residential interior design firm based in the New York City area. I am known for my uncomplicated yet sophisticated aesthetic. My work is characterized by clean lines, nuanced color choices, and textural surfaces resulting in serenely beautiful environments. I approach each project with an eye toward spatial solutions to interior problems, the interrelationship of connecting rooms, and a close attention to scale.
I specialize in kitchens, bathrooms, space planning, and custom millwork.
My projects may be modern, contemporary, or traditional in style but my goal is to provide rooms that reflect my client’s perspective and taste. The best projects are always a successful collaboration between the client and the designer.
Completed commissions include apartments, lofts, brownstones, and single-family homes in New York, New Jersey, Fire Island Pines, Hilton Head Island, SC, and Brisbane, Australia. Most are renovations of existing spaces with a focus on new custom kitchens and bathrooms. In some cases these rooms were enlarged but in others removing walls or installing larger windows created a more spacious, open feel that allows for a relaxed and gracious lifestyle.
My clients are busy urban professionals and suburban families with children and each has unique requirements. What's important is the people, how they live, and the realities of what makes for an attractive, civilized, meaningful environment. Functionality is as important as aesthetics.
I provide design and project management services from conception to completion.
I trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and have a bachelors degree in Business Administration from Michigan State University. My previous design experience includes Bruce Bierman Design and Calvin Klein, where I designed all of the overseas CK shops in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
